Ochre, as a feeling

Ochre is the colour of a village at four in the afternoon. A short note on the pigment I keep trying to replace, and why it keeps coming back.

Ochre is the colour of a village at four in the afternoon — walls warmed, dust risen, the day preparing to fold itself away.

I keep trying to replace it with something more contemporary. It keeps returning. Some pigments are not chosen; they are remembered.
